HE WHO OVERCOMES SHALL INHERIT ALL THINGS,

and I will be his God and he shall be My son

Proverbs 1

"A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
6 To understand a proverb and an enigma,
The words of the wise and their riddles.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction."

- Prov 1:5-7

The Book of Proverbs speaks much about wisdom and those who are wise. Now this is not worldly wisdom, which God has said He will destroy (1 Cor 1:19), but a wisdom that comes from Him.

Paul’s prayer for the Christian church was continual, "asking God to fill (us) with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding." (Col 1:9)

For it is only with His wisdom that we can understand Truth, have discernment, and stand against the evil that surrounds us. His wisdom speaks to us -

"My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent."
- Prov 1:10

"My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path."
- Prov 1:15

The Holy Spirit, through the Apostle, warns us -

"Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret."
- Eph 5:11-12

Only in the paths that God has laid for us is there Life. The words of this Proverb tell us of those who choose the path of sin, that "They ambush their own lives." (vs 18), and "So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; it takes away the Life of its owners." (vs 19)

It is the discipline of the Lord that would stop us from continuing down the wrong path, and exhorts us to turn to the One who truly loves us.

"Turn at My rebuke; Surely I will pour out My Spirit on you; I will make My words known to you."
- Prov 1:23

And as Peter confessed to the Lord Jesus, even as many others chose to walk a path apart from Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of Eternal Life."
- John 6:68

May those be the Words which we yearn for, and heed.
God bless us & keep us,

Michael

"But whoever listens to Me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil."
- Prov 1:33
